The monument to the shot Roma is installed in Babi Yar near the intersection of the park's central alley and the alley of the righteous.
During the Second World War, about 15 million Gypsies were shot in European countries. The exact number of dead in Babi Yar is unknown, but it is assumed that 4 Roma camps found their last refuge there. Historians note that Gypsies were among the first victims - they were shot on September 22-24, 1941. In total, about 20,000 Roma were executed in Ukraine.
In August 2009, a granite memorial sign with a memorial inscription was unveiled in Babiny Yar on the side of Dorohozhitska Street - this is the first stone of a memorial monument to Gypsies shot by the Nazis during the Second World War. A monument to the executed Roma was erected in 2016 on the opposite side of the place of the first stone, which was also moved to a new place. The opening took place on September 29 and was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the beginning of mass shootings.
The monument is made in the form of a gypsy hut, which is a symbol of the free nomadic life of gypsies, installed on a stone pedestal. The Romani wagon is made of ship steel in natural dimensions. The author depicted the covered top of the wagon shot through by an automatic rifle and decorated with flowers.
