Memorial plaque to Volodymyr Zabolotny

Volodymyr Zabolotny (1898-1962) - Soviet architect, chief architect of Kyiv (1940-1941), president of the Academy of Architecture of the Ukrainian SSR (1945-1956), laureate of the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1941). His architectural projects: the Palace of Culture of the Metallurgical Plant in Dniprodzerzhynsk (1932), the building of the Cooperation in Kharkiv (co-authored with I. Yu. Karakis and P. G. Yurchenko; 1930s), the complex of the Polish Pedagogical Institute and dormitories in Kyiv (1934–1935), pavilions in the Park of Pioneers in Kyiv (1936–1937), the building of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR in Kyiv (1936–1939, together with M.B. Chmutina; reconstruction and addition in 1945–1947), competitive project of the post-war development of Khreschatyk (with co-authors; not implemented), the building of the Ukrainian Cooperative Union in Kyiv (1955-1957), residential buildings in Kyiv, etc.

A memorial plaque to Volodymyr Zabolotny is installed on the facade of the building where the architect lived in 1945-1962. The opening took place in 1993.

The memorial sign is made in the form of a white marble board with a bas-relief of the architect, in the corners of which, in bronze letters, there is an inscription (divided into 4 parts) in the Ukrainian language: "In 1945-1962, the famous Ukrainian architect, the president of the academy lived in this building of Ukrainian architecture Volodymyr Ignatovych Zabolotnyi".
