Archpriest Aleksey Glagolev (1901-1972) was the son of the famous Kyiv priest and church historian Archpriest Oleksandr Glagolev, who was canonized by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a saint. In 1941-1960 he served in the Intercession Church in Podil. During the German occupation, thanks to Father Alexis, the temple became a center for saving Jews from physical destruction. In 1992, the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem awarded Archpriest Alexei Glagolev the honorary title of Righteous Among the Nations.
A memorial plaque to father Aleksey Glagolev was unveiled on the facade of the Intercession Church in 2016.
