Patriarch Volodymyr (Romanyuk; 1924-95) was a church figure, human rights activist, and theologian. One of the leaders of the movement for autocephaly (independence) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus'-Ukraine. A memorial plaque to Patriarch Volodymyr (Romanyuk) is installed on the facade of the Church of the Intercession on Podil (here the hierarch performed services in 1990-1995). Its was unveiled in 2016.
