Yury Smolych (1900-1976) - writer, publicist, theater critic, public figure, Hero of Socialist Labor. Since 1960, he held the position of chairman of the Ukrainian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries. In 1971-1973, he was the chairman of the board of the Writers' Union of Ukraine. Yury Smolich's creative heritage is numerous and diverse - novels, short stories, stories, unique memories. Memorial plaque to Yury Smolich was installed on the facade of the building where the writer lived in 1952-1976. It opened in 1980 for the 80th anniversary of his birth.
