Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky (1838-1918) - a classic of Ukrainian literature, translator, author of numerous novels, which reflect the Ukrainian post-reform life. The action of many works takes place in Kyiv. A memorial plaque to Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky was installed at the entrance to the administration of the National Academic Drama Theater - on this place stood the house in which he lived and worked in 1889-1910. A memorial was erected in 1978 to mark the 150th anniversary of the writer's birth.
