Monument to Valery Chkalov

Valery Chkalov (1892-1938) - test pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union, aircraft crew commander, who in 1937 made the first non-stop flight across the North Pole from Moscow to Vancouver.

The monument to Valery Chkalov in Kyiv was erected in 1981, in the square that bore his name at the intersection of Olesia Honchara and Mykhaila Kotsiubynskoho streets in the city center. It is a sculpture of a pilot, painted in bronze, mounted on a pedestal lined with granite. The monument was dismantled on February 8, 2023.
