A monument to the fallen workers and students of the Institute of Physical Culture was erected in a small square on the territory of the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine (in front of the educational building №4).
With the outbreak of World War II, many teachers and students of the Institute of Physical Education joined the ranks of defenders of the Fatherland. More than 700 students and teachers of the institute fought the enemy on the fronts of war and in guerrilla units. Many of the Inquiscultists who fought died in battles with the enemy.
