Olexander Kudashev (1872–1917) was a railway engineer and professor at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. In 1910 he built the first domestic aircraft. A monument to Olexander Kudashev was erected on the territory of the KPI, behind the building of the Faculty of Chemistry, where his hangar once stood. It was unveiled on November 7, 2017.
