The estate at Verkhnii Val Street 4 was created as a result of the merger of two estates and was built in stages, therefore it consists of several buildings.
In 1893, on the site of wooden structures on the red line of Verkhnii Val Street, a two-story brick house of complex configuration was erected. Presumably, the author of the project was the famous Kyiv architect Karl Shiman. Elements of Gothic architecture are widely used in the decor of this part of the estate. The second building of the estate was built in 1907 on the site of burnt wooden structures. This house is three-story, brick. Designed in the same style with the neighboring building, has a similar decor. Both houses have a common yard. Between them is a brick fence, decorated with a triple lancet arcade, and a gate under a gable-vimperg with a gentle lancet lintel.
On the territory of the estate at different times there were: a steam sausage factory and a store of Karl-Ludwig Nitsky, a dairy store "Siberian Trade", a restaurant "Zaporozhye", a canteen "Moskovskaya", a butcher's shop by M. Kiselev, a warehouse of rye flour by N. Khryakov.
Now the estate is abandoned and in a deplorable state. Facades have damaged plaster and peeling paint. The first floors of the houses are painted with graffiti. From the side of the yard, large cracks and broken bricks in the outer wall, broken windows. Fences with gates are destroyed. The house needs renovation.
