Tombstone on the grave of Hnat Yura

Hnat Yura (1888-1966) – actor and director, People's Artist and laureate of the State Prize of the USSR. His creative activity is inextricably linked with the Ukrainian Drama Theater named after I. Franko. H. Yura was one of its founders and the first artistic director (1920-1964). In total, his work includes 200 productions and 100 roles of Ukrainian and world classics.

Hnat Yura died on January 18, 1966. Buried at Baikovo cemetery (1 plot). His wife Olha Rubchakivna and only son Yuriy Yura are buried next to him.

In the center of Kyiv, near the theater named after I. Franko, a monument and memorial plaque to Hnat Yuri was installed.
