Funicular - the famous Kyiv attraction, which for over a hundred years helps people move from Podil to the upper city and back. This is not only the oldest form of public transport, but also the most exotic, so it should be used at least once.
The Kiev funicular was built in 1905. Its test launch took place on May 20, and passenger transportation began on May 21. The equipment and the first funicular cars for 70 people were made in Switzerland.
Nowadays, the funicular has not lost its popularity and carries quite a lot of passengers - from 5 to 15 thousand per day and, accordingly, up to 4 million per year.
The funicular has two stations: the lower station is located near the metro station "Poshtova Ploshcha", and the upper - on Volodymyrska Hill. The length of the route is 222 meters, and the height difference between the stations is 75 meters. The full path of the funicular in one direction lasts 2.5-3 minutes.
