Saints Borys and Hlib are the younger sons of Prince Volodymyr the Great of Kyiv. They were treacherously killed after his death in 1015 by his own brother Svyatopolk during the struggle for the grand princely throne. The brothers were buried in the city of Vyshgorod - the ancient Saints Borys and Hleb Church now stands above the burial site. In 1072, they were canonized as martyrs by the Orthodox Church - they are the first saints of Kyivan Rus.
The church of Saints Borys and Hleb on Teremki-2 in Kyiv is located on the territory of the temple complex of the Transfiguration Cathedral. Actually, it was the first building of the future complex. At the same time, the religious community operates separately from the cathedral community - a small church was built for it in the early 1990s and consecrated on January 7, 1993. In 2000, the church was rebuilt and expanded at the expense of the "Liko-Holding" company. The facade next to the entrance to the temple is decorated with a bas-relief image of its heavenly patrons - Borys and Hleb. In 2019, in one of the premises of the temple, Saint Stylian of Paflagonsky Church of was consecrated - it is the only church in Ukraine named after this saint.
