Obolon has gained another destination that has quickly become a favorite place for walks, friendly gatherings, and family outings. The new Vilnius (Lithuanian) Square, featuring a modern pedestrian bridge, has done more than beautify the waterfront—it has created a new urban space where nature and architecture blend in perfect harmony.
The park was officially opened on June 23, 2026, with the participation of the mayors of Kyiv and Vilnius, Vitali Klitschko and Valdas Benkunskas.
The centerpiece of the square is an elegant arched bridge spanning the bay. Its design was inspired by King Mindaugas Bridge in Vilnius and symbolizes the friendship between Ukraine and Lithuania. The area features comfortable walking paths, benches, landscaped flower beds, and scenic viewing spots overlooking a picturesque inlet of the Dnipro River and the Obolon Embankment. The project was implemented with the support of the City of Vilnius as a symbol of partnership and Lithuania's steadfast support for Ukraine.
The photographs capture exactly the atmosphere that makes this place worth visiting: children eagerly exploring the bridge, young people taking memorable photos, and adults enjoying a quiet moment by the water while watching the clouds drift across the sky and their reflections shimmer on the surface. In the evening, Vilnius Square takes on a special charm as soft lighting highlights the graceful lines of the bridge, leaving the noise of the city far behind.
Interesting fact: the bridge is not only the architectural centerpiece of the square but also part of a new walking route that connects different sections of the Obolon Embankment into one continuous and comfortable space for pedestrians and cyclists. As a result, the waterfront promenade has become both longer and more enjoyable to explore.
Vilnius Square is another excellent example of how a modern public space can be beautiful, functional, and welcoming at the same time. It is a place people return to in every season—to stroll across the bridge, relax by the water, or simply enjoy one of the finest views in Obolon.
