The monument "New Prometheus" is installed between the Square of Knowledge and the building of the library of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". Its unveiled on August 29, 2013.
The eight-meter-high ceiling is made of stainless steel. Prometheus holds in his hands a symbolic image of the Sun, where solar battery modules are mounted, which accumulate energy to power the spotlights that illuminate the figure. Another feature of the monument is the built-in wireless data transmission equipment, thanks to which a large part of the university campus will turn into a large hotspot, that is, a place where students and employees of the university can use the Internet for free using WI-FI. Therefore, the idea of the stele can be briefly formulated in the slogan "The energy of the Sun is the energy of thought."
The initiators of the creation of the stele were the students of the university, who chose the best solution by online voting from the models proposed for discussion. The stele was embodied in metal by young sculptors - brothers Mykyta and Yehor Zigura.
