Mini-sculpture "The Halahans"

Hryhoriy Galagan (1819-1888) - landowner, public figure, who lived in Kyiv since 1871 and was a member of the City Duma. Together with his wife Kateryna (1826-1896) he founded Pavel Galagan's collegium, a private closed educational institution for young men of all classes, which began functioning in 1871. The reason for the creation of the educational institution was the death of their only son. The Galagans took care of the mental and moral education of the gymnasium students. Hryhoriy Galagan donated his valuable numismatic collection to the college. Forty percent of students studied free of charge with funds bequeathed by the founder of the educational institution.

The Collegium was located in the building at the modern address 11 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street. On November 24, 2021, a mini-sculpture “The Halahan Family” was opened on its facade. This is one of the five mini-sculptures of the "Look!" project, dedicated to little-known Kyiv patrons.
