Yelyzaveta Mezhenina (1919-2007) was a doctor of medicine, professor, outstanding scientist, orthopedic traumatologist, and health care organizer.
In 1945-1994, she worked at the Kyiv Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, starting in 1964 as deputy director and later heading the institute. For a long time she was the chief specialist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in pediatric orthopedics and traumatology. She is the author of more than 200 scientific publications. She was buried at the Zvirynets Cemetery.
The memorial plaque to Yelyzaveta Mezhenina is installed on the facade of the Institute's building. It consists of three separate parts - a round marble portrait and two rectangular granite plaques.
