Nathan Rachlin (1906-79) was a conductor, People's Artist of the USSR, chief conductor of the State Symphony Orchestras of the USSR, the USSR, and the Tatar ASSR, and a professor of the conducting class at the Kyiv Conservatory. He was awarded the USSR State Prize (1952). He was buried at the Baikove cemetery.
A memorial plaque to Nathan Rakhlin is installed on the facade of the house at 25/40 Ivan Franko Street, where he lived in 1945-79. It was unveiled on March 25, 1998.
