
Mykola Amosov (1913-2002) was a scientist, physician, writer, cyberneticist, and author of innovative techniques in cardiology. In 1955, he opened the first specialized cardiac surgery clinic in Ukraine in Kyiv. In 1983, the clinic was reorganized into a research institute, whose first director until 1988 was M. Amosov.
A memorial plaque to Mykola Amosov is installed on the facade of the building that opens the street named after him. A little further along the street is the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after this famous scientist. The memorial plaque was unveiled in 2003. Under the bas-relief there is an annotation indicating that the street is named after him.
