Volodymyr Vernadsky (1863-1945) - mineralogist and naturalist, founder of geochemistry, biogeochemistry, radiogeology and biosphere doctrine, philosopher, public and political figure, the first president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (1918-21). In this position, the scientist carried out a great organizational work on the development of the Academy of Sciences. In 1918, he organized and headed the Agricultural Scientific Committee of Ukraine under the Ministry of Land Affairs (National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine).
A memorial plaque to Volodymyr Vernadsky was installed on the facade of the Hippodrome building in Pechersk, which now houses the Presidium of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences.The opening took place on November 19, 2018.
