Alexander Pokryshkin (1913-1985) was an aviation marshal, three times Hero of the Soviet Union. During World War II, he flew 600 combat missions and personally shot down 59 enemy aircraft. In 1967-68, he lived in the house on Hrushevskoho Street with his family in a four-room apartment No. 34 on the fourth floor. During this period, he was a colonel general of aviation, commander of the 8th Air Defense Army of the USSR.
The bronze memorial plaque to Aleksandr Pokryshkin was unveiled in 1990.
