Memorial plaque to Volodymyr Ivasyuk

Volodymyr Ivasyuk (1949 – 1979) is an outstanding composer and poet, multi-instrumentalist, one of the creators of modern Ukrainian popular music, artist. A native of Bukovyna learned to play the violin from an early age. Following the example of his father, the writer Mykhailo Ivasyuk, Volodymyr began to record folk songs and process melodies. He wrote his first songs "I'll go to distant mountains", "Kolyskova dlya Oksanochky" at the age of seventeen for the school vocal-instrumental ensemble, which he created himself. And the first world-famous hits were the songs "Chervona Ruta" and "Vodohray", which were performed by Georgian, Polish, Czech, and Japanese ensembles. Despite such a short life, Volodymyr Ivasyuk managed a lot. He left us more than 150 songs, symphonic suites, chamber works, music for theater performances.

A bronze memorial plaque Volodymyr Ivasyuk in Kyiv is installed on the facade of the Ukrainian Radio Recording House, where the composer recorded his works in 1974-1976. Its opening took place on March 3, 2017, when the poet would have turned 68 years old. The composer's sisters were present at the opening ceremony.
