Decembrists - participants of the Russian anti-government movement, members of various secret societies of the second half of the 1810s - the first half of the 1820s, who organized an uprising on Senate Square in St. Petersburg on December 14 (26), 1825 and were named after the month of the uprising.
The marble memorial plaque to the Decembrists in Kyiv was opened in 1925 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the uprising. It was installed on the facade of a building from among those associated with the activities of the Decembrists in Kyiv. In particular, it is close to them "Society of United Slavs", which seems to have held its meetings here.
