Augustyn Voloshyn (1874-1945) is a Ukrainian religious, cultural, political figure, Greek Catholic priest, in 1938-1939 he was the prime minister of the autonomous government of Carpathian Ukraine, in 1939 he was the president of this state, a member of the Diet of Carpathian Ukraine. In 2002, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
A monument to Augustyn Voloshyn in Kyiv was erected in 2021 in front of the entrance to the bell tower of the St. Nicholas Church on Askold's grave. On March 15, on the 82nd anniversary of the declaration of independence of Carpathian Ukraine, it was consecrated by the head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church His Beatitude Svyatoslav Shevchuk.
The monument is made in the form of a stele of gray granite, square at the base. A bronze bas-relief portrait of Augustyn Voloshyn is placed on its front face. The monument to Augustyn Voloshyn is part of the pantheon of heroes of Ukraine, which began to emerge at this place in the 2010s.
