Yaroslav the Wise (978-1054) - grandson of Kyiv Princess Olha, son of Kyiv Prince Volodymyr the Great and Princess Rogneda, Grand Prince of Kyiv in 1015-1018 and 1019-1054.
The four-meter monument to Yaroslav the Wise was erected in 1997 on the occasion of the 1525th anniversary of Kyiv near the brainchild of the prince - the Golden Gate. This monument is a copy of a small composition by the outstanding sculptor Ivan Kavaleridze. The figure of the prince is thought out in an artistic pose and dynamic spiral movement. Prince Yaroslav examines the model of the future Sophia Cathedral, but his gaze is turned to the side where the temple stands. This monument has one zest - on the back side, the authors left handprints instead of their signatures.
Authors: sculptors Ivan Kavaleridze, Mykolay Bilyk, Olexy Redko, Vitaly Sivko, architect Yury Lositsky, Ruslan Kukharenko.
Address: corner of Yaroslaviv Val and Mykola Lysenko streets.
