Monument to Ivan Franko on Demiivka

Ivan Franko (1856-1916) was a writer, scientist, public and political figure. Author of about 4,000 literary, journalistic and scientific works. Among them: the poems "Stoneworkers", "Ivan Vyshensky", "Zakhar Berkut", the drama "Stolen Happiness".

He came to Kyiv in 1885-1886, lived in the College of Pavel Galagan. According to one version, Ivan Franko married Olga Khoruzhynska in the Collegium’s Church. He visited 8 Nestorivskyi Lane and other addresses where famous figures of Ukrainian science and culture lived.

A square and a street in the center of Kyiv are named after the writer. A monument has been erected on the square.

Another monument to Ivan Franko in Kyiv was erected in 2006 in the "Garden of Ukraine" on the territory of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management in Demiivka.
