Trinity Orthodox Churches in Kyiv

Trinity Day is one of the largest in the church calendar and one of the four state religious holidays in Ukraine. It has no fixed date and is celebrated on the fiftieth day after Easter. On this day, the churches are full of believers, but many want to visit the Trinity Churches of Kyiv. In this article we present a brief overview of Kyiv's Holy Trinity Churches.

1. Trinity Church of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is one of the oldest churches in Kyiv, which is over 900 years old. The ancient temple is located above the entrance arch and the central gate to the Lavra, through which thousands of pilgrims and tourists pass daily.

2. Trinity Cathedral in Troyeschyna - one of the largest churches in Kyiv, and the first built in our city after the Soviet era.

3. Holy Trinity Monastery «Kytaiv Hermitage» - an Orthodox monastery on the outskirts of the city, which is called "Kyiv Athos". The main church of the monastery - Trinity Cathedral - was built in the XVIII century in the Cossack Baroque style.

4. Holy Trinity St. Jonas Monastery was founded in the middle of the XIX century, and by 1918 it had about eight hundred inhabitants. Since 1935, the monastery was located on the territory of the Botsad of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

5. Trinity Church on St. Trinity Square was built in the early twentieth century and destroyed in 1962. It is currently being restored on the site between the NSC "Olympic" and the operetta.

6. Trinity Church on Batyiva Hora was founded in 1916 and destroyed in 1931. The current church operates near the site of the old church.

7. Trinity Church in Protasiv Yar is located on the territory of the National Institute of Phthisiology and Pulmonology named after F.G. Yanovsky NAMS of Ukraine. One of the young churches in the capital, built in 2014-2015.

8. In 1612 the central throne of the Church of St. Cyril was consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity, and the church became the Trinity-Cyril. In 2011, the Holy Trinity St. Cyril's Monastery was revived, abolished in 1786.
