Obolon has long been a traditional Kyiv spot where swans spend the winter, and every year dozens — sometimes even hundreds — of these majestic birds gather here. Thanks to the ice-free bay, particularly Sobache Hyrlо (Dog's Throat), as well as sections of the Dnipro River near the Wave and Northern bridges along Natalka Park, the water remains open even during severe frosts, allowing the swans to winter comfortably alongside numerous ducks.
