The house on 5 Trekhsvyatitelskaya Street is located opposite the Ukrainian House and is an integral part of the historical environment formed around the estate of the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church.
History
In the area of the site on which the house was built, there were the defensive ramparts of the Starokyivska fortress. The steep terrain with the remains of an ancient bastion was inconvenient for development. Around 1892, the Kiev merchant of the first guild, David Trachtenberg, became the new owner of the cornerstone plot. A mansion was built by his order. In 1922 the building was nationalized by the Bolsheviks. Now there are offices on the ground floor.
Architecture
The building was built on the red building line of the street, on a site with a sharp change in relief. This led to the complex stepped and three-part structure of the structure. The house is a brick, plastered, rectangular building with a basement. On the side of Triokhsvyatytelska Street, the mansion has three floors, on the Kostelna Street side - two. The design of the house uses stylized forms of classicism.
